Gains + New Approach

So, I took 3 days off from training and started back yesterday, Thursday. Getting back into the gym, introduced me to some new gains actually, strength gains. I went from barely pushing 50s for 6 reps on bench press, and now I am pushing 55s for 10 reps. Definitely was impressed with my performance, to say the least. Not only that but I started curling 40s on alternate bicep curls, for 10 reps. Gained some strength in the pull down, at 125lbs for 8 reps. Finally, tricep push downs have reached 160lbs for 8 reps. The unfortunate thing for the latter, is I believe the machine goes up to 200 and something, can’t tell the numbers on it but when I reach that point, what happens next? I guess supersets would be in order around then. 🙂

Reached 155lbs

It wasn’t really a whole week past, that I said I was going to have a short term goal to reach 155 lbs. I didn’t know how long it was going to take because I had stopped counting my calories, and just eating when I was hungry and making sure to get my protein supplements in to hit my macros for the day.

155lbs here I come!

So right now, I am about 153lbs. This is whether I have eaten to my full capacity, drank too much water, etc. I tend to weigh myself when I wake up in the morning, afte relieving myself and completely in the birthday suit. Guaranteeing me the most accurate reading on my scale. And thus far, for the past week plus, I have been at 153 lbs. I haven’t been going up or going down. Because of this, my short term goal is to reach 155 lbs. Right now, that’s my ultimate goal. No longer am I looking at the long term goal of 180 lbs. I haven’t been counting my calories because I have come to know exactly what I need to consume, to hit my macros, and my daily calorie intake to gain mass. I tend to just switch up some meals, to make it more interesting. Sometime today, if anyone is reading this at this time, I will hit on IIFYM (if it fits your macros), as promised to someone I spoke to yesterday, that I was going to write about it sometime this week. Not only that, but it basically falls into the mindset I have had currently, while on my bulk. During my quest to find weekly fitness quotes, I came across one that said basically, to give yourself small term goals and meet those goals instead of giving yourself long term goals and becoming overwhelmed with accomplishing them. So 155 lbs. Not sure the time[…]

Me & Creatine Monohydrate

I have been off of creatine for a whole month now, but I plan to get back into it starting tomorrow. I have had to move my trainings to about 4 times per week; Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I am going to go after school/work, so the body part to be worked out, depends on how much people are there on Thursday and Friday. I plan to leave legs and arms for the weekend, as it’s nearly empty around those times and I love working out my arms! 🙂 The point of this post is to make people aware, that I am going to start back the creatine and show you how creatine monohydrate, does increase your lifts and is an essential product to have while bodybuilding, once you’ve at least passed the 3 month mark. I don’t recommend newbies to start supplementing on creatine, because it requires a lot of consumption of water and is one of those products you should use, after you’ve gotten the hang of training. So please wait 3 months, before starting. I had purchased creatine monohydrate when I first started lifting, but never took it. I actually waited till a year ago, to truly start supplementing or experimenting with it and it’s only this year, that I have been taking it regularly.

My Journey

I just realized I never spoke thoroughly on what my long term fitness goals are. I figured, if I am going to chronicle my experiences, fitness accomplishments, diet routines, etc., then my readers should have some kind of idea of what I want to even accomplish. Obviously, my main desire which I have always, from the very beginning thrived to achieve is to gain muscle mass. If you’ve read my about me, or my “why I got into bodybuilding” post entry, you’d know that I started off as a very skinny young individual. I gradually, over time, reached the current weight I am at; 150lbs. But, my overall goal is to reach 180lbs. I have started this journey, earlier on in this year and plan to finish it probably around the same time that I started january-feburary 2012. Giving myself a full year to gain 45lbs (going from 135lbs to 180lbs). I am, what they call, on a bulk. I am trying to gain as much weight as possible and inadvertently, gain muscle mass also. As one can only gain so much muscle mass over a period of time, I will reach a certain limit at my 1 year mark. But when I reach 180lbs, I will cut down to 160lbs. My plan, thus far, has been to use an eating protocol that I spoke about a few days ago, called Intermittent Fasting. This is suppose to help keep my body fat percentage at a reasonable level. I believe I[…]
